Corrective surgery arms: Brachioplasties

What is it and how is it done?

The surgical correction of the disharmonies in the perimeter of the arms, due to excesses of both skin and fatty tissue, is called brachioplasty .

The detailed study of both skin elasticity with the presence and intensity of stretch marks, the provision of fatty deposits, in addition to the comparative study with the opposite limb, determines which is the most appropriate approach in each person. We also consider the state of the lymphatic-venous system and its axillary ganglia.

Basically the technique is to determine the surpluses of soft tissues and eliminate them respecting both circulation and skin sensitivity, to obtain a more proportionate contour with the rest of the body

What are the requirements for this improvement?

People with excess skin and fatty tissue, especially accused even pendulums in their arms. Those who suffer the consequences of a drastic reduction in weight secondary to bariatric surgery also benefit.

Ways to perform brachioplasty
We always do it in the operating room of an approved hospital, either under general anesthesia, or local anesthesia plus sedoanalgesia according to its extension and each case. The size of the procedure depends on the amount to be corrected. It begins with an approach in medial or internal faces to reduce scar exposure. Once the leftovers are released and eliminated, the new contours are established, closing with hidden sutures. We finish by applying slightly compressive bandages.
